CHAPTER 8
Atlantis
The main goal of the chapter on Atlantis is to show a civilization which evolved scientific and technologically, but that did not have the same moral and spiritual development - by the majority of its population - what carried to their destruction.
The intention is to make a parallel with current days, where similar situation is occurring, as the violent transformation of the face of the planet is foreseen by the same reasons.
Literary and Scientific vision
What made the investigators and scientists to make their researches on Atlantis existence was its description presented by Platão, about a continent that would have existed and, later, sunk between Americas, Europe and Africa, in a region of the Atlantic Ocean, limited in the north by Hercules' Columns - strait of Gibraltar.
Such information, Platão received from Solon - legislator of Athens who obtained them from Egyptian priests. Platão describes about Atlantis in the dialogs "Timeu and Critias".
According to Platão, Atlantis had this name because its first king denominated Atlas. Its capital was called Poseidon, and it was circled by mountains. It was a civilization developed technologically, with ingenious works as anchorages, canals for water capitation, temples and palaces.
Its destruction would have occurred by the fire, according to some, by water, according to others, including records made by Egyptian priests that this happened due to the fall of celestial bodies, which would have bombarded it, making it to submerge at the sea.
Several works were made on Atlantis by several investigators, introducing different arguments, seeking to prove Atlantis existence and trying to characterize some points of the Atlantis civilization, of which we can cite, for example:
- The similarity between Egypt's Pyramids, Mexico, Turkey and Central America, as if all of them were originally from a unique knowledge, in the case, of the Atlantis.
- The similarity between Mu's Writings, Mayas and Egyptian; the vases and boards discovery by the archaeologists, making allusion to the Atlantis Continent.
- Similarities between religious, astronomical and architectural conceptions, and in a more general manner, between civilization of the Egyptian, Sumerians, Toltec’s, Incas and Mayas; the studious affirm that Atlantis' descending peoples, before and after the submersion, are among other’s: Egyptian, Aztec, Toltec’s, Mayans, American Indian, Hyperbolic peoples, etc.
